Surah Rahmaan Quran medical cure

Surah Rahmaan Quran medical cure

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 10 Surah Yunus verse 57:
57 O mankind! There hath come to you a direction (Guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah) from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts, and for those who believe a Guidance and a Mercy.

Respected sister in Islam, Allah Subhanah did not reveal the Glorious Quran to cure the physical ailments and diseases of mankind.but rather it was revealed to guide mankind to a Straight Path that leads to the doors of Mercy of their Lord Most Gracious, and so that man may save themselves from the spiritual diseases of the hearts like shirk (polytheism), kufr (disbelief), nifaaq (hypocrisy), etc.

When the Messenger of Allah (saws) or any of his noble family would fall ill, they would seek the best medical treatment available during their times, and in addition to that would constantly seek Help and Mercy from their Lord Most Merciful.

Respected sister in Islam, we absolutely assure you in the Blessed Name of Allah Subhanah that the Messenger of Allah (saws) did not identify or specify any particular Surah as a remedy for a particular physical disease or ailment.neither Surah Rahmaan nor any other Surah of the Glorious Quran! And my respected sister, when the Messenger of Allah (saws) has not endorsed or specified any Surah as a remedy for any physical disease, it would simply not behove or befit a believer, who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day, to from themselves determine and declare a particular Surah of the Glorious Quran as a remedy for a particular ailment or disease! That would be absolute misguidance, to say the least!

If one is afflicted by a physical disease or an ailment as a trial from their Lord, it would only be prudence that one utilize the available asbaabs and seek treatment from an expert in the field and science of medicine..and above all remain patient and constant in seeking the help of their Lord Most Merciful to alleviate their suffering.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verses 155-157: 155

Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil) but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere.
156 Who say when afflicted with calamity: "To Allah we belong and to Him is our return." (inna lillahe wa inna ilayhe rajeoon)
157 They are those on whom (descend) blessings from Allah and Mercy and they are the ones that receive guidance.

There are several supplications recorded in the authentic and established Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws) which one when seeking a remedy could and should make when one is afflicted by some illness and/or disease as a trial from their Lord.

                                                                                                       Fiqh-us-Sunnah Fiqh 4.8a

Topic: supplications for illness

Aishah reports that the Prophet (saws) used to seek refuge in Allah for some of his family members. He used to touch them with his right hand, saying: Allahahuma Rabbin nas adhhabal ba'sa, ashfi wa antashafi, la shifa' illa shifa'uka shifa' la yughadiru saqma (O Allah! The Sustainer of mankind! Remove the illness, cure the disease. You are the One Who cures. There is no cure except Your cure. Grant (us) a cure that leaves no illness.)

Related by Bukhari and Muslim

Uthman ibn Abu Al-'As relates that once he complained of pain in his body to Allah's Messenger (saws). The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: 'Put your hand where you feel pain in your body and say, "Bismillah (in the name of Allah)," and say, "A 'udhu bi 'izzatillah wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhiru (I seek refuge in the Might of Allah and in His Power from the evil that I find and that I fear)," seven times'." Uthman continued: "I did that a few times and Allah removed my pain. I always advised my family and others to do the same."

Muhammad ibn Salim reported: "Thabit Al-Banani said to me: 'O Muhammad! When you have any pain, put your hand where you feel pain, then say: Bismallah a'udhu bi'izatillah min shari ma ajidu min waj'i hadha (In the Name of Allah! I seek refuge in Allah's Might from the evil of this pain). Then remove your hand, and repeat the same for an odd number of times. Then he said to me that Anas ibn Malik had told him that Allah's Messenger (saws) had taught this to him."

Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas reports that the Prophet (saws) visited him while he was sick and said: 'O Allah, make Sa'd well! O Allah, make Sa'd well! Make Sa'd well!"' Related by Muslim.

One amongst the absolute best supplications one can and should make when afflicted by an illness is the one made by the Noble Prophet Ayyub (a.s.) during his severe time of distress, and related by The Lord Himself in His Glorious Quran:

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 21 Surah Anbiyaa verses 83-84

And (remember) Ayyub, when he cried to his Lord "Truly distress has seized me, but Thou art the Most Merciful of those that are merciful.

So We listened to him: We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his people to him, and doubled their number as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration for all who serve Us.

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Remedies for the heart are within the Quran

Allah Almighty Says in the Quran (what means): “We send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers.” [Quran 17:82] And also (what means): “O mankind! There has come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers.” [Quran 10:57]
It is narrated on the authority of An-Nu'maan Ibn Basheer  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him who said : "I heard the Messenger of Allah  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) say : "That which is lawful is plain and that which is unlawful is plain and between the two of them are doubtful matters about which not many people know. Thus, he who avoids doubtful matters clears himself in regard to his religion and his honor, but he who falls into doubtful matters falls into that which is unlawful, like the shepherd who pastures around a sanctuary, all but grazing therein. Truly, every king has a sanctuary, and truly Allah's sanctuary is His prohibitions. Truly in the body there is a morsel of flesh which, if it be whole, all the body is whole  and which, if it be diseased, all of it is diseased. Truly it is the heart." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Diseases of the heart are a mixture of suspicions and lusts which can lead our souls into turmoil and despair. However, Allah Almighty has provided us with a special prescription that will cleanse and heal our diseased hearts: The Quran.

The Quran provides the healing for many types of ailments

1.     It contains proofs and clear evidences which separate right from wrong.

2.     It adequately and clearly negates our doubts.

No book on this earth other than the Quran provides such comprehensive proofs and testimonies in relation to exalted matters of monotheism, confirmation of Allah’s attributes, the Day of Judgment, Prophethood and refutation of incongruous doctrines and degenerate opinions.

Although the Quran offers a genuine cure for the evils of suspicions and doubts, its benefit depends to a large extent on comprehending its essence and purpose. Those who are blessed with such faculties would have the ability to distinguish between right and wrong, as clearly and easily as they can distinguish between day and night.

They would know for certain that all other knowledge and concepts prevailing among people are either traditions or false presumptions; however fanciful and appealing they may appear, these would be unable to offer a substitute for the Truth or genuine matters as encapsulated in the Quran and would provide no benefit.

The Hadeeth (narration) of Prophet Muhammad  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) compares the futility of such efforts to: “Inferior camel’s meat on top of a rough mountain, neither the hill is easy to climb nor the camel is healthy enough to get down the hill.” [Al-Bukhari]

In fact, the knowledge obtained by theologians could be found in the Quran with a much better elaboration and explanation, for the theologians are inclined to affectation, wordiness and perpetuating perplexity. They assume that their attitudes help in refuting suspicions and doubts, but contrary to their presumption, these suspicions and doubts are better served by their efforts. If healing and guidance, knowledge and certainty could not be obtained from the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) it would be impossible to obtain them from the utterances of those perplexed skeptics.

The Quran draws its ability of healing the diseases of lusts by its wisdom and fair exhortation, through the renouncement of earthly pursuits and the pursuance of the Hereafter. It draws upon parables and narrations containing lessons to be pondered. If the heart assimilated these qualities, it would certainly be inclined towards good deeds and renounce the evil ones.

The Quran also eliminates spiritual diseases which corrupt our intentions and prompt us towards ill deeds; hence the heart heals and returns to its normal nature, where its facultative and self-acquired deeds excel. The body also returns to its normal functioning by rejecting whatever contradicts the right guidance, just like an infant who accepts nothing but milk. In this course of affairs, the heart feeds on faith and the Quran which provides it with reprimands, consolidation, support, gladness, joy and invigoration to establish its authority, as a body is nourished by what develops and strengthens it.

The heart and the body would not flourish without adhering to the Quran. Even if they attained some of the desired results from another source, the attainment would be very minor and would not serve the purpose and desired end result.

Cure the hearts with Quran

"Cure the hearts with Quran"

"Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts."

al-Mutaffifeen - ( 83:14 )

"O mankind!

There has come to you an instruction from your Lord,

a cure for whatever (disease) is in your hearts,

a guidance and a blessing for the true believers."  Yunus - ( 10:57 )

All the good deeds will become useless if the intention (Niyyah) was corrupt. Our Salah, Sadaqaat, Siyam (fasting) or our other good deeds have no value if our intention is not pure. The deeds of a Believer and of a Hypocrite might look the same (both might pray the same way) but their intentions (objectives/ purpose) will be different. Rasool Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said "The reward of deeds depends upon the intention and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended". The intention is located in the heart. So, if the heart is corrupt, the intention will also be corrupt; and every deed done with wrong intention is useless.

Rasul Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said:

"Beware, in the body there is a piece of flesh;

if it is sound, the whole body is sound

and if it is corrupt the whole body is corrupt,

and hearken it is the heart."   Sahih Muslim

Al-Qur'an says that none will be saved on the Day of Judgment except him who will have a Healthy Heart (Qalbin Saleem) ["And when none shall be saved except him who will come before Allah with a pure heart (Qalbin Saleem)", 26:89]. If the heart of a person is healthy, all his A'amaal (good deeds) will be satisfactory. But if a heart contains pride, show-off, hatred, doubts, love of fame or wealth etc, then such a heart needs to be cleaned from these diseases. The term Tazkiya is used to refer to the purification of the heart or the Nafs. The purification of the heart is so important that Allah has placed it before the Dhikr and Salah, as He says:

"Indeed whosoever purifies himself [man tazakka] shall achieve success,

And remembers (glorifies) the Name of his Lord,

and prays [fasalla]".

(Qad aflaha man tazakka

Wa-thakara isma rabbihi fasalla)   (al-A'laa - 87:14-15)

Rasool Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) has shown a way with which one can clean his/her heart. The Prophet ('alaihi salato was-salam) said "These hearts become rusty just as iron does when water affects it." On being asked what could clear them, he replied "A great amount of remembrance of death and recitation of the Qur'an." (Tirmidhi).

Remembrance of death is the remembrance of that day when one will stand before Allah with all his deeds, good or bad, opened in front of him. If a person constantly remembers that one day he will have to face his deeds in front of Allahu ta'ala, such a person will avoid all that which could result in receiving the anger of Allahu ta'ala. A person who fears Allah will want his sins to vanish, therefore he will repent to Allah and for those who sincerely repent, Allah will turn their bad deeds into good deeds.

"... the one who repents, becomes a true believer, and starts doing good deeds, for then Allah will change his evil deeds into good, and Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful. He that repents and does good deeds, has truly turned to Allah with good turning." (al-Furqaan - 25:70-71 )

The repentance does soften the heart of a person who repents to Allah out of the fear of meeting Him one day, ["Who feared Rahman (Allah) without seeing Him, and brought a heart turned in repentance (qalbin muneeb)" (50:33). Rasool Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said "When a believer sins there is a black spot on his heart, and if he repents and asks pardon his heart is polished; but if he does more it increases till it gains the ascendancy over his heart." ( Tirmidhi)

Excessive sins without any repentance will eventually cover up the whole heart with rust (or darkness); Allah says:

"Nay! rather, what they used to do

has become like rust upon their hearts."

(Kalla bal rana AAala quloobihim ma kanoo yaksiboona)

( al-Mutaffifeen - 83:14 )

Therefore, we should constantly repent to Allah for all our sins, which we could be doing knowingly and unknowingly. Rasool Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) also said that a person can clean up the rust on his heart with this Qur'an. And Allah has also called this Qur'an as the "Shifa" or the "Cure" for all the heart diseases.

"O mankind!

There has come to you an instruction (Quran) from your Lord,

a cure for whatever (disease) is in your hearts,

a guidance and a blessing for the true believers."  ( Yunus - 10:57 )

"We have revealed the Qur'an which is

a healing and a mercy to the believers,

while to the wrongdoers it adds nothing but loss." ( al-Israa - 17:82 )

"Allah has revealed the most beautiful message,

a Book consistent in its verses yet repeating its teachings in different ways.

Those who fear their Lord are filled with awe when they hear it,

Then their skin and their heart soften to the remembrance of Allah.

Such is the guidance of Allah:

He guides with it whom He pleases.

But he to whom He confounds shall have none to guide him."

al-Quran ( Surah az-Zumar - 39:23 )

Allah gives life to the dead earth with the rain. This Qur'an can give life to the dead hearts. This Qur'an is the clear reminder and the Kalam of Allah, where only Allah speaks and the believer listens. A devoted heart is the one that is filled with the love of Allah, whose objective of every action is to gain the pleasure of Allah, whose fear is the anger of Allah and whose food is the Dhikr (remembrance) of Allah. Can our bodies stay alive for long if we don't eat any food? How can these hearts stay alive without the Dhikr of Allah? Therefore, we should firmly hold this Rope of Allah (al-Quran), the rope which takes us up directly towards Him.

Rasool Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) has said that the successful is the one whose heart has become pure. He described the features of a pure heart as:

"He has been successful!

whose heart Allah has made sincere towards faith,

whose heart He has made free from unbelief,

his tongue truthful, his soul calm, his nature straight,

whose ear He has made attentive and his eye observant.

The ear is a funnel and the eye is a repository for what the heart learns.

He is successful whose heart is made retentive."  ( Tirmidhi )

Ramadan is close to its departure but have we purified ourselves yet? The two sons of Prophet Adam ('alaihi salam) offered their offerings to Allah. Allah only accepted from the one but not from the other. It was then said "Allah only accepts from those who are al-Muttaqoon (the pious)" [5:27]. We have been fasting and praying this month but who knows if Allah will accept our deeds or not. Again, He only accepts from the Muttaqeen. Have we done enough to glorify Allah, to control this Nafs, or to clean this heart? We were busy with this world in the Salah and outside the Masjid. Our daily concern was the Iftar rather to attach ourselves to Him and escape ourselves from the walls of this Nafs. When Prophet Ibrahim and Ismael (peace be upon them) completed the work which Allah had asked them (raised Ka'bah), they said "Our Lord, Accept this from us" (Rabbana Taqabbal minna..) [2:127]. If the two great Prophets, the forefathers of Muhammadur Rasool Allah ('alaihi salato was-salam), are requesting Allah to accept their work, what assures us that Allah is going to accept our good deeds and forgive our defects?

We are still in Ramadan and al-Hamdulillah we still have the opportunity to clean these hearts. One can purify his heart to a certain degree within minutes (insha'Allah)! All that requires is a special chemical, which none but one's own eyes can produce. So, purify and polish these hearts with your tears! Especially in the last nights of this month. The Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said: " Allah will give shade to seven (types of people) under His Shade (on the Day of Resurrection) . (one of them will be) a person who remembers Allah and his eyes are then flooded with tears" [Sahih Bukhari]. No one knows if there will be another Ramadan for us after this, neither the speaker nor the reader.

"O Allah, we are not relying on our deeds. Our deeds might have no value

in Your Sight. We are weak and only hoping for Your Mercy and Forgiveness

as You are Arhamur-Rahimeen. Our mothers would forgive us for any

mistake, but You are much more Merciful than all the mothers.

O Allah accept our good deeds and forgive all our sins as You like to Forgive.

O Allah! make us to meet You with a pure heart and

Have Mercy on us the day we will meet You.

Waman Taqis-Sayyiati Yawmaithin Faqad Rahimtah!"

Aameen.

"Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, He is free from what they ascribe to Him!

Peace be on the Messengers, and praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds."
